‘World Conference and Workshop on Dance and Music as a tool for promoting sustainable peace’ 5th-10th of September 2011 London

World Culture LinkIn order to improve our response to the challenges facing our society at the beginning of the 21st century, the conference aims to bring about better interaction between the world of research and the world of action, strengthen the links between theory and practice in the field of social development, a culture of peace through education.

The conference will discuss the global problems in the contemporary world, as well as the contents of education for a culture of peace and non violence, to promote the knowledge, skill values, attitudes and behaviours, that reflect and inspire social interactions and sharing based on the principles of freedom, justice and democracy, human rights and social justice, tolerance and solidarity.

We anticipate that the conference, will also promote the knowledge, skill values, attitudes and behaviours that  reject violence and endeavour to present conflicts by tacking their root causes to solve problems through dialogue and negotiation, that guarantee the full exercise of all rights and the means to participate fully in the development process of the society.

The conference includes workshops on dance and music from across the world, and dances of the world showcase in the evenings.

 

Participants:

The participants in the conference and workshop will be individuals who are involved in the activity of Music and dance, folk arts and culture, folklore groups, dance schools, dance and music researchers, international organizations, states arts councils, members of the diplomatic corp. dance schools, dance choreographers, students, NGO's, members of government and the general public.

World Culture Link African Sector and Music Project 'ORI' official Launching

On the 3rd of March 2011 at the Badagry Town Hall Lagos Nigeria at a well attended event the World Culture Link African Sector was officially Launched. The chairman of the day Hon. Moses Dosu, the chairman Badagry Local Government commended the organization and emphasised on the need for creative projects that will help in revitalizing and projecting cultural heritage in Nigeria. Also the chief launcher Hon. Joseph Bamgbose Chairman badagry West Local Council development area, asserts that creative cultural  projects should be used as a tool  for sustainable economic development trickle benefit.

 

 Highlights of the day included the appointment of Peter Mesewaku as the President of the Nigerian Sector and the Director of Africa Affairs and the appointment of Tunde Hussenio as the Executive Secretary General of African Sector.

The World Culture Link Music project 'ORI' was Launched by Hon. Joseph Bamgbose and Hon. Moses Dosu, they were supported by Hon. Billy Balogun, Hon.Benson and Hon. Tuso and other dignitaries Including the director Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture Mr Adesina Elegbede.
